Farm villages are facing problems of aging population, low housing occupancy rate, and fallowed and lost farmland. According to official figures, there are only 56,842 farmers under the age of 44. Who will be feeding Taiwan’s 23 million populations after 20 years? This is a problem that needs immediate solution.

It is hard for the younger generation to return to their rural homes to farm if the income is unstable. Even related farming businesses are having a hard time to attract the younger workforce. Thus, building a robust agriculture industry is a way to bring back the small farm economy in the past.

We hope to rebuild the farm village’s model because most farm villages are not susceptible to tourism’s influence. The difference between agriculture products and the scenery is not great. In order to make younger workforce to return to farm or to make new immigrants to move in, there needs to be a survivable living environment. If the community does not provide that circumstances, it needs to be recreated. We hope to create such model in the near future to be the reference for other communities.
